Tribute to the Darkest Day - a dharma poem by Gavin

Let us raise our glass to the shortest, darkest, coldest day of the year.

May it remind us to...
make proper use of the time we are given
find peace in the darkness
fuel the warmth in our hearts
and welcome the refreshing change of the seasons.

We give thanks today as we know that every day afterwards gets longer, brighter and warmer.

We commit that when we finally reach the longest, brightest, warmest day of the year, we won't...
waste the endless hours
run desperately after shiny objects
or get lost in the heat of the moment

We'll be grateful and remember the day that enabled its greatness; the day that enables our greatness, the darkest day.
